Single day, 32-wrestler double-elimination bracket

We've recently received two different requests for supporting modified 32-wrestler, double elimination brackets that can be run in 1 day.  The modifications ensure each wrestler competes in a maximum of 5 matches.  Both requests come from California.

We have created an enhancement request for this feature with the following placement points:

1st (wins all 5 matches): 16
2nd (loser of championship match): 12
3rd (winner of match between semifinals losers): 9
4th (loser of match between semifinal losers): 7
5th (winner of 4-wrestler ladder made up of quarterfinal losers): 5
6th (loser of 4-wrestler ladder made up of quarterfinal losers): 3
7th/8th tie if 2nd round losers drop down to consolation ladder: 1.5 each
7th (winner of 16-wrestler ladder made up of first round losers): 2
8th (loser of 16-wrestler ladder made up of first round losers): 1

Our development lead time is about 9 months, so these will be ready for the 2015-16 season.  They will not be ready for this season (2014-2015).  Please post a reply to this topic if you need different placing points.

Re: Single day, 32-wrestler double-elimination bracket

We have started developing three versions of 32-wrestler, 5 match limit brackets.

Two of the versions put 1st and 2nd round losers into their own consolation ladder.  The 2 finalists from that ladder end up in a tie for 7th or are "consolation co-champions" (no placing points awarded).  The 3rd round losers from the championship ladder compete in their own consolation ladder for 5th (and optionally 7th); semi-final losers compete for 3rd.

The third version eliminates 1st and 2nd round losers.  3rd and subsequent round losers wrestle-back for 3rd and 5th.

Version 6.1.0 of TournamentSR will include these bracket styles and several new emergency repair features.  It will be released within the next month.  We are working on updating the manuals at this time.
